Bellydance is one of the oldest forms of dance in the world.  There are many styles and fusions (using elements of other dance forms).  Gothic bellydance (or Raqs Gothique) is just one more progression in this art's evolution.

Drawing inspiration from emotions such as pain, sorrow, betrayal, vengeance and lust, we now have an art form distinctive in its style and powerful in its presentation.  The dance becomes a cathartic experience... a resurrection of the soul... Without the darkness, there can be no light.

Incorporating elements of gothic and industrial dance, Zahara's raks gothique has pushed Middle Eastern Dance into something dark, yet alluring.  She continues to be a favorite at festivals, parties and night clubs.
