Biography

Welcome to Zahara’s Tangled Web… home of Greater Cincinnati’s Zahara!  Rooted in traditional Middle Eastern dance, and fusing various inspirations, Zahara is a belly dance artist with over 15 years experience entertaining audiences in the tri-state area. She’s the creator of the annual Zahara’s Carnival Noir and Elegant Creature Feature showcases, and is the Art Feature Editor for Carpe Nocturne magazine.  Zahara strongly encourages life-long learning and sponsors/attends belly dance lectures and workshops as much as possible. Some of her favorite workshops were taught by Ariellah, Amel Tafsout, Kami Liddle, Donna Mejia, Moria Chappell, Jill Parker, Artemis Mourat, Asharah, Aziza, Kaeshi and Irina Akulenko of Belly Queen, Tempest, Mavi Clay, Amy Sigil of UNMATA, Arish Lam, Karim Nagi, Sadie Marquardt, Sashi of Ascend Tribal, Roshana Nofret, Suzanna Del Vecchio, Luna of Cairo, and Carolena Nericcio of Fat Chance Belly Dance.

Zahara has been a featured performer at The Cincinnati Zoo, the Cincinnati Witches Ball, OM Cafe, Common Roots, Andy’s Mediterranean Grill, Loveland Castle Days, the annual Halloween Gala to benefit the Children’s Dyslexia Center of Cincinnati, World Music Fest, Haci Grill, and The International Steampunk Symposium. She can frequently be seen performing with local favorites Mayan Ruins (www.mayanruinstribal.com) at a variety of events.  Zahara teaches weekly belly dance classes in Kenwood, OH and Newport/Covington, KY, as well as workshops throughout the tri-state area.
